    Transfer options from Suvarnabhumi airport

Lots of flights mean lots of ways to get around! Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), isn’t just Bangkok’s main international airport, it’s also a major transportation hub for all of Southeast asia. This high volume of travelers ensures you’ll find a wide range of transfer options to suit your needs.

The available transfer options from Suvarnabhumi airport are:

    Pre-booked airport transfer (Thailand Cab)

Skip the long taxi lines, fare negotiations, and avoid the stress of finding the right sized vehicle. Pre-booked transfers like ours offer superior convenience and comfort, all just for a slightly higher price than regular taxis.

Here’s why pre-booking makes your arrival easy:

    • Meet & greet: Your driver will be holding a personalized sign for easy identification right outside the baggage claim.
    • Spacious Comfort: We’ll select the perfect vehicle size to comfortably accommodate your group and luggage, ensuring a relaxing journey to your destination.
    • Stress-Free Arrival: We track your flight and adjust for any delays, ensuring your driver is waiting upon your arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).
    • Pre-paid Convenience: Your transfer is booked and paid for in advance, eliminating the need for cash at the airport.

    Regular Taxi

Regular taxis offer a cheaper option for private airport transfers at Suvarnabhumi than pre-booked transfer services. However, the pricing often needs some bargaining and the baggage space is very varying.

Consider this before choosing a regular taxi:

    • Fixed Fares Common: While the taxis operate on meters, many drivers prefer fixed fares (around 500 THB for regular cars and 600 THB for larger vehicles, including tolls and luggage).
    • Unpredictable Costs: Choosing the meter can be cheaper, but additional fees for tolls and luggage makes the final price unclear.
    • Limited Luggage Space: Regular taxi trunks vary in size so it’s not certain your luggage will fit.

    EV Taxi (Electric taxi)

For eco-conscious travelers, Suvarnabhumi Airport offers EV (Electric Vehicle) taxis.  While availability is limited and the cost is higher than regular metered taxis, EV taxis are ideal if you are looking for a more sustainable ride to your hotel.

    • Higher fares: Expect to pay around 23 USD (830 THB) to central Bangkok (excluding traffic delays).
    • Climate friendly: Minimizes your environmental impact.
    • Limited availability: Factor in potentially longer wait times than regular taxis.

    Ride-hailing with Grab or bolt

Ride-hailing apps like Grab and Bolt connect you with on-demand private drivers for airport transfers and travel around Bangkok. Book your ride directly within the app, enjoy the comfort of a private vehicle, and get dropped off right at your hotel. Track your driver’s progress and pay securely through the app, eliminating the need to negotiate fares or handle cash.

Consider this before choosing grab or Bolt for your aiport transfer:

    • Flexible Vehicle Options: Easily to choose the right vehicle – from standard cars to minibuses, vehicles with extra luggage space, and even pet-friendly options.
    • Price Fluctuations: Fares varies depending on demand and traffic conditions.
Availability: Ride availability may be limited in less central areas.

    Airport Rail link (ARL)

The Airport Rail Link (ARL) is a cheap, fast, and efficient way to travel between Suvarnabhumi Airport and central Bangkok. Avoid unpredictable traffic and enjoy a comfortable, air-conditioned ride directly to key stations like Makkasan (for MRT connection) and Phaya Thai (for BTS connection).

    • Cost-effective: Only costs between 0,4-1,4 USD, or 15-45 THB, per person depending on distance.
    • Limited luggage space: Storing and keeping track of your luggage might be challenging, especially with multiple bags.
    • Requires additonal transfer: You’ll need to walk, take a taxi or change public transportation method to reach your final destination.

    Public busses

For the most adventurous and cost-conscious travelers, Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) connects to Bangkok’s public bus network. There are several routes to the city centre, including Bus 551 to Victory monument and 552 to On Nut, to name a few.

While offering the cheapest transfer option, be prepared for longer travel times, less comfort, and limited luggage space.

    • Budget-Friendly Fares: Expect consistently low fares of around 0.95 USD (35 THB) per person, for all routes.
    • Route Research: You need to research the bus routes and stops before your arrival.
    • Limited Luggage Space: Storage space on buses can be restricted, especially if you have large suitcases.

Craving a unique Bangkok experience? Explore the city’s waterways with canal boats, zip through traffic on a motorcycle taxi, or take a thrilling tuk-tuk ride when the traffic allow.

    BTS (Skytrain)

Choose from affordable single-journey tickets (15-62 THB), a day pass (150 THB), or the reloadable Rabbit Card for ultimate flexibility. If you need to explore even further, the BTS also connects directly with the MRT Metro, Airport Rail Link, and Chao Phraya River ferries.

    BTS

    MRT (Metro)

The MRT, Bangkok’s metro system, offers an affordable way to get around, with lines reaching areas and attractions the BTS doesn’t (like Lumphini Park and Wat Pho). Since the end of 2023 there is four different MRT lines – blue, purple, yellow and pink, the two last named being the latest additions.

The pricing and comfort is similar to the BTS system, with one unique advantage, you can blip your credit card directly when entering the station. This means that you can skip the ticket queue completely for a smoother journey!

There are several connections to the BTS including Asoke BTS / Sukhumvit MRT and Mo Chit BTS / Chatuchak MRT, as well as convenient connections to the ARL (Airoport rail link) and Chao Praya river piers.

Routes like 15, 79, and 511 cover popular tourist areas, with some of the buses offering air-condition. Taxi

Bangkok’s brightly colored taxis offer a convenient and air-conditioned way to get around the city. Just be mindful of the notorious rush hours (especially between 4-7 pm) when traffic jams significantly impacts travel time. For faster travel during these times, consider alternatives like the BTS Skytrain, MRT Metro, or a mototaxi.
